Space Cadet is a 35-foot Fred Barrett design built at Van Munster Boats in Australia in 2016. Van Munster is known for building competitive 12-, 16-, and 18-foot skiffs. The FB35 applies their high performance eexperience to an offshore racing yacht. Space Cadet gives a crew the speed and technical challenge associated with high-performance dinghies, together with the systems needed to race offshore. The same hull raced first as Weapon of Choice in Australia and then as Manifest in the Pacific Northwest. Charlie Welsh brings experience from the 2019, 2023, and 2025 Transpac races and a 2023 U.S. Adult Sailing Championship title. His campaign puts a Van Munster-built boat back where its design can be tested, with a crew learning how to make every part of it work.
